19th IYQ Talk – Attosecond Physics: From the Source to the Applications

Prof. Anne L’Huillier, Physics Nobel Laureate from Lund University, Sweden, will deliver the 19th talk of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ) series at TCG CREST. The talk, titled “Attosecond Physics: From the Source to the Applications”, will explore the creation of ultrashort attosecond light pulses and their groundbreaking applications.

Speaker: Prof. Anne L’Huillier, Physics Nobel Laureate, Lund University, Sweden
Date & Time: 26th August 2025, 3:00 PM IST
Venue: Classroom-4, TCG CREST, Kolkata, India

Abstract:
When an intense laser interacts with an atomic gas, extremely short light pulses, with a duration of ~100 attoseconds, are generated. This talk will highlight the key developments in attosecond science, from the underlying physical mechanisms to significant applications in science and technology.

Organized by:
Centre for Quantum Engineering, Research and Education (CQuERE), TCG CREST, Kolkata, India, as part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ)-2025 celebrations.
