Bimalendu Deb
Professor Bimalendu Deb is a theoretical physicist, currently working in the areas of quantum optics, quantum computing, quantum sensing, atomic and molecular physics. Earlier, he served as a faculty member of two institutes in India, first at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, from 2001 to 2006; and then at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, from 2006 to 2026.
He supervised more than 15 PhD scholars. He is a Member Principal Investigator of National Quantum Mission in the area of Quantum Sensing and Metrology. In 2026, he published a book titled ‘Low Energy Collision Physics: Applications to Cold Atoms’, IOP Publishing, Bristol (January 2026), which may be used as a graduate text in scattering theory and its applications to cold atoms and cold molecules.
He has more than 80 publications in journals in diverse areas of physics including cavity and circuit quantum electrodynamics, Bose and Fermi superfluidity in cold atomic gases, quantum information science, cold collisions, etc.
He joined TCG CREST as Professor on September 1, 2026. His field of research being Quantum optics, quantum information science, atomic and molecular physics.
