Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Research Associate – R&D with a strong foundation in molecular biology, biochemistry and biotechnology. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with microbial & animal cell lines, in vitro
assays, and biomolecule validation studies. This role involves supporting experimental workflows, conducting bioassays, analyzing data, and maintaining precise documentation using digital lab record platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform in vitro assays using Spectrophotometric/ Colorimetric/ fluorometric/animal cell lines to support biomolecular research and validation (interpret results and troubleshoot inconsistencies)
• Conduct dosage-dependent studies on biomolecules, and efficacy assessments.
• Handle and maintain microbial strains under sterile conditions for experimental needs.
• Handle small molecules purification workflows (protein, peptide, short-chain fatty acids, bio-enzymes), including: Chromatography techniques (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion), Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) and microfiltration, Sample concentration, buffer exchange, and desalting procedures. Support downstream process development for biomolecule production, focusing on yield optimization and purity.
• Apply fundamental techniques of molecular biology, such as PCR, plasmid preparation, and Bacterial transformation and screening.
• Support mutation and genetic engineering workflows (cloning and gene editing)
• Maintain accurate and timely experimental records using electronic lab notebooks (e.g., SciNote, Microsoft Note, LabVantage).
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and ensure compliance with laboratory best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to the preparation of day to-day scientific reports and presentations.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, or related field.
• 1-3 years of hands-on laboratory experience (academic or industry).
• Proven experience in animal cell culture techniques and in vitro assay
development.
• Working knowledge of molecular cloning, mutagenesis, and biomolecule analysis.
• Familiarity with biomolecules quantification and data interpretation tools.
