Shibdas Roy
Dr. Shibdas Roy completed his BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2005 from Techno India Salt Lake, West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), Kolkata, India, his MSc in Computer Science in 2010 from the University of Oxford, UK, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2015 from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Canberra, Australia. Before his Masters, he was a software engineer for about 3 years in industry, working on database systems, for NTT Data (then, Caritor), and then Goldman Sachs, both in Bangalore, India. After his MSc and before his PhD, he briefly worked as a Project Assistant at the Dept. of Physics and NMR Research Centre of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India.
After completing his PhD, Dr. Roy was a postdoctoral researcher at the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore, at the Dept. of Physics of the University of Warwick, UK, at the School of Computer Science of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, at the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Florence, Italy. He is a theorist with research interests spanning various areas of quantum information science since his MSc, such as quantum computation, quantum algorithms, quantum machine learning, quantum metrology, quantum control, and quantum foundations.
