The article highlights groundbreaking work by scientists at RISE under TCG CREST, who have developed an indigenous sodium-ion battery made entirely from India-sourced materials. This innovation promises ultra-fast charging—up to 94% in just five minutes—and an energy density of around 180 Wh/kg, comparable to leading lithium-iron phosphate batteries.
Jeremy shared that commercial production could begin within 2–3 years, with potential investments of $10–12 billion, marking a significant step toward sustainable energy solutions for electric mobility, grid-scale storage, and rural systems.
