Dr. Amreen Bano is a computational materials scientist specializing in energy storage and sustainable energy. She is currently a Senior Research Scientist at the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE), TCG CREST, Kolkata. Her research centers on the computational design of advanced battery materials, including Li- and Na-ion cathodes and anodes, solid and polymer electrolytes, and electrode-electrolyte interfaces, using density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics, and machine-learning-assisted atomistic simulations.
After earning her PhD in Physics from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, she pursued postdoctoral research at IISER Pune (2020-2021) in Prof. Mukul Kabir’s group, followed by a second postdoctoral appointment at Bar-Ilan University, Israel (2021-2024), with Prof. Dan T. Major.
Dr. Bano has published 42 peer‑reviewed articles in leading international SCI journals, including Advanced Energy Materials, ACS Energy Letters, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Small, and Chemistry of Materials.
She currently leads multiple externally funded projects, supported by DRDO and CSIR‑HRDG, focused on solid polymer electrolytes, high‑entropy sodium‑ion electrodes, and high‑voltage sodium‑ion cathodes.
Her contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the Rising Star Award (2025), Best Poster Award at the Israel Electrochemical Society Conference (2024), and fellowships from UGC and MPCST. She actively collaborates with premier institutions in India and abroad, such as IIT Bombay, JNCASR, IISER Pune, ARCI Hyderabad, and Bar‑Ilan University.
