Overview

Institute for Advancing Intelligence (IAI) under the aegis of TCG Centres for Research and Education in Science and Technology (TCG CREST), is organizing a five day Summer School in Basic and Advanced Cryptology from 23.06.2025 – 27.06.2025. Interested post-graduate and final year graduate students with Mathematics or Computer Science as core subjects, may apply.

Candidates will be selected based on their academic career and detailed CV. A free accommodation will be provided to a limited number of outstation candidates. At the end of the school, all the participants will be given an official certificate.

Objective of the Program

The objective of the CCSS program is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of both basic and advanced cryptographic principles that form the backbone of modern crypto systems. The program aims to build foundational knowledge in classical cryptographic techniques such as symmetric and asymmetric encryption, hash functions, and digital signatures, while progressively advancing to more complex topics like secret sharing, multi-party computation, zero-knowledge proofs etc. The program also spans its boundary from classical cryptosystems to quantum and post-quantum crypto systems. Through a mix of theoretical instruction and practical application, the program seeks to equip students with the skills needed to critically analyze, design, and implement secure cryptographic solutions. By emphasizing both the mathematical underpinnings and real-world applications, the CREST Crypto Summer School will empower participants to apprehend the nitty-gritty of developing cryptographic solutions.

How to Apply

The students will be selected based on their detailed CV and academic performances. Selected students will be informed via e-mail.

A List of Tentative Topics:

• Basic Symmetric Key Cryptography: Overview of Cryptology, Historical Ciphers, Block Cipher, Stream Cipher, Basic Cryptanalytic techniques, PRF, PRP, Hash and MAC, Authenticated Encryption.
  
  
• Basic Public Key Cryptography: Basics of Computational Number Theory, RSA Encryption, El-Gamal Encryption, Digital Signature, Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange, Digital Certificate and Public Key Infrastructure.
  
  
• Introduction to Internet Security: Packet Sniffing, Packet Spoofing, Sniff and Spoof, Man-in-the-Middle Attack, TCP Synflooding.
  
  
• Advanced Cryptographic Primitives: Secret Sharing, Commitment Schemes, Multi Party Computation, Zero Knowledge Proofs.
  
  
• Quantum Safe Cryptography: Quantum Cryptography, Post Quantum Cryptography.
  
  
• Blockchain and Bitcoin.
